Swiss International Air Lines is blaming Airbus's late delivery of two A340-300s for cuts on its network this month, saying the short notice meant it could not change its leasing contract to retain a Boeing MD-11. Swiss was expecting its second A340 last month, and a third by mid-September, which will now not arrive until the end of September and mid-October, respectively. Airbus confirms that deliveries are "four to six weeks late", but says the delays are "BFE [buyer furnished equipment] related".
