Swissair's decision to concentrate longhaul flights at its Zürich hub at the expense of Geneva has prompted a revision of the Swiss Federal Aviation Act to end the flag's monopoly on the Geneva-Basel and Geneva-Zürich routes. The government is also considering designating a second Swiss carrier in bilaterals to bring direct longhaul services back to Geneva.
