Milling expert Starragheckert (Hall 4, E6) is developing software that will significantly speed the milling process while improving the product.
The CAM software enables the user to input the dimensions of the piece to be milled, such as a titanium turbo engine blade. The results received tell the user the optimal position of the cutter to achieve the finish required.
As a result of these precise calculations, the milling process can be up to 30% quicker than previous methods. Quality is also superior.
The software is currently undergoing tests and is expected to be in use at the beginning of next year.
"This is the first time we have visited the Farnborough airshow and we've been looking forward to it," says Anja Buth who works in software development at the Swiss-based company. "It will give us an ideal opportunity to speak with visitors and show them the potential of this new product."
