Meaney exits Swiss

Bill Meaney, managing director commerce at Swiss and the man credited with sealing its relationship with the oneworld alliance, has left the carrier by mutual consent, although he will be available to Swiss for a period to "ensure a smooth and orderly handover of duties and responsibilities".

The decision was taken due to "differing views on the company's future management structure" says Swiss. The airline's board adopted a management organisation based on three managing director positions in mid-2003. The other managing directors, who report to chief executive Andre Dosé, are Ulrik Svensson, finance, and Manfred Brennwald, operations.

Meaney only spent a year at Swiss, joining in early 2002 after a six-month spell as the head of the Star Alliance. Before that he was executive vice-president alliances, network management and global sales for South African Airways.
