Russia and Syria are in the final stages of negotiating an agreement covering an upgrade package for the latter's Mikoyan MiG-21 and Sukhoi Su-22 aircraft.
The Syrian air force operates around 200 MiG-21s and about 60 Su-22s. No details of the upgrades being offered are known although cockpit avionics and weapons upgrades are certain to be on offer.
