Brady, which makes labelling and identification products, has developed a lightweight, heavy-duty RFID label for the aerospace industry that enables fast and easy tracking of non-metal components.
The RFID Air Label features a read range of up to 8m (26ft) and can help aircraft manufacturers and airline maintenance divisions keep track of such information as the number of life vests present, or whether any oxygen masks need to be replaced.
A mounted or handheld scanner picks up the birth records of every labelled item and tells operators how many items are present and where they are located, “keeping you compliant with a number of EASA [European Aviation Safety Agency] requirements”, the company says.
The new label is described as “ultra-thin”, weighing in at less than 2g, and it is available in three different sizes. Brady says it can withstand extreme environmental conditions without the use of an over-laminate.
The company’s on-site RFID print and programme solution enables users to simultaneously programme the RFID chip on location and print information on the label at 600dpi.
