Lufthansa Group has chosen Geven’s Essenza seat for new Airbus A320neo/A321neo aircraft, joining the fleets of its hub airlines Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and Swiss from the first quarter of 2019. The first delivery will be an A320neo to Swiss.
“This is a new seat for the Lufthansa Group. We’ve been working with Geven for just over a year on this agreement,” says Paul Estoppey, senior director, head of product management, cabin, Lufthansa Group Hub Airlines. “The joint team has done a beautiful job, with all the seats having the same mechanical structure but with each of the brands retained.”
Estoppey says 93 aircraft will be fitted with Essenza seats, configured in a 29in pitch, as with the current fleet of A320 family aircraft in the group. “However, we’ve carved out an extra inch of space with the Essenza compared with the previous seats,” he says.
“It’s not easy to be selected by Lufthansa Group,” says Geven managing director, Alberto Veneruso. “They do a deep analysis on the company and make demanding requirements. They make the purchase on more than the product, but also on the support that can be offered.”
