Boeing has given an indication that airlines interested in reviving production of passenger-carrying 767s should not get their hopes up just yet.
On 6 November, US major United Airlines confirmed that it had requested pricing information from Boeing for the 767, which has been produced exclusively as a freighter for nearly four years.
Boeing is responding to United's request, but the manufacturer isn't gearing up to resume production of 767-300ERs anytime soon.
"It's nothing more than a study at this point," Kevin McAllister told reporters in Dubai on 11 November. "It's a study we’re doing with a customer."
Boeing last delivered a 767-300ER to Air Astana in mid-2014. The manufacturer has proposed developing a New Mid-market Airplane (NMA) for entry into service in 2024-2025 with similar capacity and range as the 767.
