The National Transportation Safety Board is dispatching investigators to France where they will assist with analyses of data recovered from the recently crashed Boeing 737 Max 8's flight recorders.
"The NTSB investigators have expertise in recorders, flight crew operations and human factors," says the NTSB.
It adds that French aviation authorities "will be downloading the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder in support of the Ethiopian investigation."
The Ethiopian Aircraft Accident Investigations Bureau is leading the investigation, and the NTSB is assisting because the aircraft was manufactured in the USA.
The US Federal Aviation Administration, Boeing and engine maker partners GE Aviation and Safran Aircraft Engines are also assisting as "technical advisors", the NTSB says.
