Russian analysts are to conduct windtunnel tests on models of the Irkut MC-21 fitted with the Aviadvigatel PD-14 engine.
The PD-14 is the rival powerplant to the Pratt & Whitney PW1400G, which has been installed on the initial flight-test aircraft.
Central Aerohydrodynamics Institute researchers are to examine the flight characteristics of the twinjet.
The institute says this will include simulation of high angles of attack, and assessment of the aircraft in take-off and landing attitudes.
Aeroflot and Ilyushin Finance – which is set to deliver the type to Red Wings – are among MC-21 customers set to take the PD-14 engine.
United Engine has been flight-testing the PD-14 on an Ilyushin Il-76.
