Qatar Airways is not interested in revisiting the Bombardier CSeries once the programme transfers to Airbus this year.
The Doha-based carrier had previously been linked to the CSeries.
Speaking at an event in Toulouse to mark delivery of Qatar's first A350-1000, chief executive Akbar Al Baker said the airline did not have "any interest in the CSeries for the time being".
Airbus is aiming to acquire the CSeries programme and integrate the Pratt & Whitney-powered aircraft into its single-aisle product line.
But Al Baker left open the possibility of acquiring the type via involvement in an entity which could lease the aircraft to other carriers.
He stresses that Qatar did not walk away from the CSeries over the aircraft's design and capabilities.
"[It was] not about no confidence in the product," he says. "[We] didn't know when production would come to maturity."
Qatar had also been a former customer for the Airbus A319neo, a competitor to the CSeries, but converted all its orders for the type to larger jets.
