US maintenance firm StandardAero is closing its completion arm for large VIP transport aircraft.
It states that Associated Air Center will cease operations and shut its facility at Dallas Love Field at the end of this year.
StandardAero says the business is "no longer an economically-viable option" because current and future work volumes "do not support" the facility's costs.
"The limited pipeline for new business opportunities, excess industry capacity and slowing demands in the VVIP aircraft marketplace have all contributed to this decision," it adds.
Associated Air Center specialised in modifying aircraft from Boeing's BBJ and Airbus's ACJ corporate jet lines.
Its work has included adapting aircraft for governments – among them Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Argentina – as well as airframes for private and corporate customers.
The company, which had its origins in fitting radio equipment after the Second World War, expanded into maintenance and conducted its first VIP conversions in 1978.
StandardAero is aiming to concentrate on its engine maintenance capabilities. The company says it will ensure that current completion work programmes are "properly supported" until they are finished.
