Spain’s EADS Casa delivered the Polish air force’s eighth and last C-295 tactical transport to Krakow-Balice airbase on 28 July. The twin-turboprop C-295, which has a maximum payload of over 9,000kg (19,800lb), is replacing Warsaw’s Antonov An-26 transports. The acquisition forms part of an air force modernisation that will also see Poland introduce 48 Lockheed Martin F-16 fighters from late next year.
