Tusas Aerospace Industries (TAI) has completed conceptual design work on the Hurkus primary/basic trainer being developed under a March 2006 agreement with Turkey's Defence Industries Undersecretariat. The company is to deliver four aircraft, including two mock-ups, under the 59-month project, which will now progress into its pre-design phase. To be powered by a single turboprop engine, the tandem-seat Hurkus is intended to receive certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency.
