China is unlikely to attempt a manned spaceflight aboard its Shen Zhou spacecraft until 2005, according to Sun Laiyan, deputy director of the China National Space Administration. There have been two unmanned missions launched so far, with a third due this month. Further unmanned missions will be required to ensure that the first two Chinese "taikonauts are 100% safe", says China.
