Dominican Republic carrier Taino Airlines wants to launch scheduled cargo services to the USA with McDonnell Douglas DC-8-63 freighters wet-leased from Airborne Express. If it gains US Department of Transportation approval it will become the only Dominican carrier to operate scheduled services between the countries. It aims to link the Caribbean country's capital Santo Domingo with four US destinations, two of them in Puerto Rico.
