Taiwan's Aviation Safety Council (ASC) has sent a revised report into the May 2002 in-flight break-up of a China Airlines (CAL) Boeing 747-200 to interested parties ahead of its planned public release in February.
An English-language version of the body's final report was delivered to interested parties at the beginning of December, it says. A Chinese-language version is to be sent out this week.
The revised report incorporates changes suggested after a draft final report was sent out earlier in the year. The original plan was to make public the final report before the end of 2004, but "the schedule had to be postponed", says the ASC.
The delay was caused in part by legal changes that give interested parties the right to have their opinions on the final report heard at an ASC board meeting. "It is highly possible that the report will be published in mid-February," says the council.
The 25 May 2002 crash killed all 225 people on board the 22-year-old 747-200, which was operating as flight CI611 between Taipei and Hong Kong.
