Flight International online news 09:00GMT:Taiwan’s EVA Air has taken delivery of its first Boeing 777-300ER, one of 15 777s it has on order for use on long-haul international routes.

“The new 777-300ER equipment will fully upgrade our service quality,” said EVA chairman Steve Lin at the delivery ceremony in the USA.

“We will introduce a new ‘Elite Class’ and upgraded economy class with the introduction of the new aircraft.”

The aircraft is the first of 15 777s EVA will receive through 2009, 12 of which will be 777-300ERs and three longer-range 777-200LRs. The aircraft are to be used on services to Europe and the USA.

EVA’s new 777s will also be equipped with the Boeing Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), which uses hardware from Astronautics of America and software from Boeing subsidiary Jeppesen.
