North Korea has test-fired the first stage of its Tapeo Dong 2 satellite launcher. A first test flight of an adapted Tapeo Dong 1 ballistic missile in August 1998 failed in its attempt to launch a satellite. The Tapeo Dong 2 technology would also extend the missile's range, and is a source of worry to military analysts.
