Documents released by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation show that SIA Tata Airlines will target routes from New Delhi to major cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad in the first year of operations.
A proposed route pattern shows that the airline is planning in its first year of operations to fly twice daily services between Delhi and Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
Tata SIA also plans to launch daily services on the Delhi-Mumbai-Goa, Delhi-Srinagar-Jammu, Delhi-Patna and Delhi-Chandirgah routes. A standalong Delhi-Srinagar service is planned to operate three times a week.
Over four years, it is expected to grow its network to 21 routes across India focused on its Delhi hub. The busiest route will be Delhi-Mumbai, which is planned to grow to 49 weekly services.
The proposed schedule is part of the airline’s recent application with the DGCA for an air operator’s permit, the final major regulatory approval it requires before it can launch services.
The application also shows that Tata SIA is tentatively scheduled to start operations on 1 September with a fleet of leased Airbus A320s. It also notes that the airline will lease an unspecified number of re-engined A320neos.
Tata SIA is a joint venture between Singapore Airlines and Tata Sons.
