Sandel Avionics has received certification for its ST3400 terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS), initially in the Cessna 421. The unit is a panel-mounted replacement for a radio-magnetic indicator, allowing US operators to meet the requirement to fit TAWS by March 2005. Certification on other aircraft, initially business jets, is being pursued.
