EADS has unveiled plans to open its first research and technology centre and first helicopter pilot training school in Asia. The EADS Singapore Research & Technology Centre will open soon in the city-state with 25 Singaporean scientists who will perform research activities for Airbus and other EADS units. Eurocopter Training Services Asia will be established by the end of this year at a yet-to-be-determined site in Singapore and will train 200 to 300 pilots per year. Eurocopter says its eventual aim is to establish a network of training centres worldwide and Singapore is first due to a lack of such facilities in the region, despite soaring demand.
