Textron Lycoming has been granted US Federal Aviation Administration type certification for its TIO-540-AJ1A powerplant. The new engine, which provides 230kW (310hp) at 2,500RPM, will be used in Cessna's T206 Turbo Stationair. Lycoming put the engine through a 500h endurance test during the certification process "-to ensure maximum reliability".
