Lockheed Martin¹s PAC-3 missile has scored another hit in the on-going test programme for the Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system.

The test at White Sands missile range in California successful engaged a low level air breathing target, according to Robert B Coutts, executive vice president for Systems Integration at the company. "The seeker was able to look down into ground clutter and find the target. This test was also run in low temperatures," he says. The "hit-to-kill" THAAD is the centre-piece of the Pentagon¹s strategy to provide US troops deployed in crisis zones with a defence against ballistic missile defence.
