Thailand's first dedicated cargo airline, Thai Air Cargo, plans to launch services in the middle of the year after leasing its first aircraft from World Airways.

Thai Air Cargo, majority owned by Thai freight forwarder Commercial Transport International (CTI) and 49% owned by Australia's Qantas Airways, plans to operate between Thailand and other parts of South-East Asia, as well as to China and Europe.

US wet-lease and charter carrier World Airways says it will lease a Boeing MD-11 freighter to the new airline from June in a deal worth $21 million. This will be on a one-year wet lease with an option for a second year.
