Incoming Thai Airways International chairman Virabongsa Ramangura has been appointed acting president until a permanent replacement is found.
Thai executive vice president commercial Tasnai Sudasna Na Ayudhaya is the main contender, say reports.
The airline has been forced to appoint a new acting president as the incumbent finance ministry permanent secretary, Somchainuk Engtrakul, is focusing on the country's finances. Thai's 15 board members and president resigned in last month.
