The Thaicom 4 telecommunications satellite built by Alcatel Space for Thailand's Shinawatra company, but not delivered, has been sold to India's Agrani Satellite Services. The craft - Agrani 2 - will be launched in late 2002 aboard an Ariane 5. Equipped with 24 C-band and 14 Ku-band transponders, it will provide fixed coverage to India, and steerable coverage to Europe, the Middle East and SouthEast Asia.
