Thailand is studying the possibility of buying six Sukhoi Su-30 multirole fighters from Russia in exchange for 250,000t of chicken meat that it could not export following the Asian bird flu epidemic last year. A high-level Thai delegation visited Russia in June with representatives of the Russian air force to see a demonstration of Irkut-built Su-30MKIs, and a visit to Moscow by Thai trade minister Prachuba Chayasarna is due this month, according to Russian business daily Vedomosti.
