Thailand’s air force is seeking to launch an avionics upgrade project for its fleet of Pilatus PC-9 primary trainers. Sources say the service is trying to secure funds in the current fiscal year budget to award Pilatus a contract for the initial engineering work.

If funded as requested, a new avionics suite will be installed in all 23 of Thailand’s PC-9s by October 2008. Pilatus expects to carry out the first installation and help maintenance company Thai Aviation Industries install new avionics in the other aircraft.
