The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) has upgraded its aggressor flight to squadron status. The aggressor squadron, 904, is based at Don Muang airbase, Bangkok, and equipped with Northrop F-5E Tiger IIs. The aircraft became available following the disbandment of 231 Sqn at Udon Thani late last year. Only half of the RTAF's 44 Northrop F-5s are believed to be operational, while aircrew numbers have shrunk as pilots have left the service for commercial aviation. The RTAF continues to push for a third batch of Lockheed Martin F-16s. These are likely to be operated by 102 Sqn at Khorat, which now operates the Aero L-39ZA Albatros.
