The European Commission (EC) has cleared the acquisition of air traffic management (ATM) specialist Airsys ATM by Thales. Airsys ATM was established as a joint venture between Thales and Germany's Siemens in 1997, to develop ATM equipment and turnkey airport systems. The agreement included an option under which Thales could purchase Siemens' shares in the company.
