Thales has won a contract of undisclosed value to provide in-service support for its avionics systems installed on several South African Air Force types.
Announcing its receipt of a five-year deal on 28 May, the European company said the award is linked to operations with the air force's BAE Systems Hawk 120 advanced jet trainers, Lockheed Martin C-130BZ tactical transports and Denel Rooivalk attack helicopters. The award also includes supporting the South African navy's four AgustaWestland Super Lynx 300 shipborne helicopters.
Thales says its global logistics support services solution deal with South Africa's Armscor covers aspects such as obsolescence management and guaranteeing a strategic supply of spare parts, plus the provision of technical services.
