Thales Avionics has been selected by Airbus to jointly define and supply the modules of the revolutionary Integrated Modular Avionics on the A380 - one of the most keenly contested avionics deals.
Thales is offering many of the other avionics packages on the A380, including the Cockpit Display System, Secondary Flight Control, Surveillance System, Navigation and Flight Guidance (FMS, FCU, and MMR), plus communications systems including SATCOM and VDR.
It is also offering AFIS (Airbus Flight Information System), variable frequency electrical power systems (in a joint venture with TRW Aerospace), plus training and flight simulation packages.
