Thales UK, Smiths Aerospace and Selex Sensors & Airborne Systems are forming an alliance to provide military support contracting and through life support for avionics and electrical systems. Total Support Services (TSS) is expected to “reshape the avionics defence industrial base to provide a better service for less cost”, the companies say. Under the agreement, the companies will provide an avionics support service to prime contractors for UK Ministry of Defence rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft, using supply chain initiatives, a shared support infrastructure, rationalised processes and co-operative working to cut costs.
