Sir - It seems incredible that aircraft using the same airspace still have altimeters calibrated in differing units and that "international" airports do not have secondary radar.

Insurers do not seem to be interested, especially, given the large claims involved when, for example, there is a mid-air collision. If insurance firms were to insist that transport aircraft were fitted with collision-alert equipment, and could be operated only from airports with minimum standards, I am sure that we would see action in the provision of such technologies.
