BOEING IS ABOUT TO COMPLETE TESTS of its 737-700 at the UK Defence Research Agency's 5m (16ft) pressurised wind tunnel. It uses the Farnborough tunnel, to provide highly accurate low-speed test results at 3bar pressure, in this case on a 1/11th scale model. The contract highlights the absence of a similar US tunnel following the closure of NASA Ames' 3.66m/5bar tunnel because of metal fatigue.
