Thiokol Propulsion, a division of Cordant Technologies, is leading a team of US and Russian contractors to provide three systems for the safe and environmentally sound disposal of 30,000 metric tonnes of Russian ballistic missile fuel at sites near Krasnoyarsk and Nizhnyaya Salda.

The disposal programme is part of the Pentagon's Cooperative Threat Reduction programme to support Russian compliance with the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START 1).
