Meteorological data for Kathmandu indicates the presence of thunderstorm activity in the vicinity around the time of a Bombardier Q400 crash.
The aircraft came down at around 14:18.
It had been conducting a service from the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka and was approaching Kathmandu from the south-west, consistent an approach to runway 02.
Weather information from the airport for the time of the accident points to a variable crosswind from the west, cumulonimbus clouds and thunderstorms.
Visibility was slightly reduced at around 6km, according to the meteorological data.
No information has been disclosed on the type of approach being conducted by the turboprop.
