THY has sold its seven Airbus A310-300s to Mahan Air of Iran in a $145 million deal. The Iranian airline had earlier agreed to buy three of the aircraft, which it will take immediately.

The move follows THY's sale last year of six A310-200s to Iran Air, which, like Mahan Air, cannot buy aircraft from the manufacturer because of economic sanctions. Having also sold one A310-200 to Kibris Turk Hava Yollari, a Cypriot airline 50% owned by THY, the Turkish flag carrier has now disposed of its A310 fleet.

THY is left with seven A340-300 widebodies, but is due to bolster its fleet with three twin-engined long-range aircraft as markets improve. THY will maintain the A310s it has sold.
