THY Turkish Airlines has chosen International Aero Engines (IAE) and General Electric to power the 36 Airbus aircraft it is in the process of ordering. The flag carrier confirms that its 19 A320s and 12 A321s will be equipped with IAE V2500s. Five A330s will have GE CF6-80E1s. It says both manufacturers will be involved in creating a $1.5 billion joint venture maintenance centre at Istanbul's second airport - Sabiha Gokcen international. Meanwhile, US lessor CIT Aerospace has selected International Aero Engines' V2500s to power a further 12 previously ordered Airbus A320 family aircraft.
