Turkish Airlines, (THY), could today be announcing a mega order with Airbus for as many as 36 aircraft. Boeing could also benefit from the flag carrier's fleet renewal.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in Paris last night where he was believed to be pressing the case for French support for Turkey's accession to the European Union. Sources at the airline suggest that a commitment to Airbus is imminent.

THY is widely believed to be planning to order as many as 57 aircraft in total with five Airbus A330s and 31 Airbus A320/321s among them. Boeing 737-800s could make up the remainder of any order announced at the show.
