France and Germany have placed a series of contracts following the Eurocopter Tiger attack helicopter production go-ahead, signed in June last year.

Sextant is to supply the French Ministry of Defence with 160 Topowl monocular helmet-mounted sights/displays. A binocular Topowl, developed with German avionics company VDO-L, has been chosen for the NH Industries NH90 and South African Denel Rooivalk helicopters.

MTU Turboméca Rolls-Royce (MTR) has received a DM430 million ($222.6 million) contract for an initial batch of 320 MTR320 turboshaft engines. Deliveries of the first batch will start next year and stretch to 2011. The French and German armies have ordered 80 Tigers each so far.
