Elbit Systems has confirmed it has been selected to supply the Skylark mini-UAV system for Israel's ground forces. The initial order is expected in the near future.
Skylark is a man-pack configuration designed for day and night observation and data collection "over the hill" up to distances of 10km (6 miles). The system is equipped with an exceptionally quiet electric motor, totally autonomous flight ability and outstanding observation capabilities. A single soldier can launch the UAV in the field after brief training.
Skylark was the only mini-UAV system to pass a series of stringent tests set by the Israeli ministry of defence.
