THE US AIR FORCE'S second (and last) Milstar Block 1 Development Flight Satellite was launched into geostationary orbit by a Lockheed Martin Titan 4/Centaur booster from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on 6 November (Flight International, 1-7 November). Four Milstar 2 Series satellites, will be launched by Titan 4/Centaurs, between 1998 and 2001. The latest launch was the third by a Titan 4/Centaur this year and the fourteenth of a Titan 4 model since 1989. Six have been equipped with the Lockheed Martin Centaur upper stage and four with a Boeing Inertial Upper Stage.
