Spanish company Indra has just won a contract from the Spanish Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) for an airport control tower simulator.

"We use a 180-360-degree visual system to help reproduce the exterior operating conditions associated with a control tower," says international marketing manager Juan Socias.

Tower functions simulated include traffic generation, processing of flight and surveillance data and meteorological and aeronautical information, session control and recording.

"Each station in the simulator is equipped with all the monitors and devices used in a real tower," says Socias. "The external view can be adapted to simulate all the usual weather conditions, helping to prepare students for real situations."
