Tracor has won a $20.8 million contract from the Aeronautical Systems Centre at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio for two fully-equipped Astra SPX aircraft to replace C-21s currently in operation.

Tracor will modify two executive business jet aircraft Astra SPXs to integrate specific mission equipment for the 201st Airlift Squadron of the Air National Guard.

Tracor and its three prime subcontractors - Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), Collins Avionics and Allied Signal - together will deliver the customised aircraft in late 1997.

IAI will supply the Astra SPX aircraft, Collins Avionics will produce the ProLine 4 avionics and AlliedSignal will provide the engines and auxiliary power unit.

"The total potential value of this contract to Tracor, with options, is $47 million," says Donald Fagan, president of Tracor Flight Systems.
