Russia's Transaero has set up a line maintenance base at Moscow Vnukovo airport to support its fleet of Boeing widebody aircraft.
The carrier will provide airframe technical services out of a leased facility at the locally-based MRO plant VARZ-400.
It says the designated hangar enables it to carry out A-checks on two Boeing 747- or 777-sized aircraft at the same time.
Transaero has recently secured European Aviation Safety Agency approval for its line and maintenance operation out of Vnukovo.
The fast-growing airline has identified the MRO business as an important area of its future growth strategy and intends to expand its maintenance capabilities competencies.
It has, until now, performed much of its aircraft maintenance at Shannon, Moscow Domodedovo and St Petersburg Pulkovo airports, where it also has facilities.
Transaero's line station network comprises outlets at Sheremetyevo as well as in Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Bangkok.
