Gulf Traveller, the all-economy arm of Gulf Air, launched operations from its Abu Dhabi hub to Dhaka, Bangladesh, last week, using Boeing 767-300ERs transferred from its parent. The airline is taking over six 767s from Gulf Air, along with some services to Africa and the Indian subcontinent, mainly leisure routes to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as well as Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Flight International, 13-19 May). Its second route, to Zanzibar, Tanzania, will start on 18 June. At the same time, Gulf Air is leasing two ex-Singapore Airlines Airbus A340-300s from Boeing as it prepares to relaunch services from Bahrain to Sydney in November. This will take its A340 fleet to seven.
