McDONNELL DOUGLAS (MDC) IS CONTINUING work on the first of 20 MD-90-30 TrunkLiners destined for China Eastern and China Northern Airlines, despite the cancellation of a visit by Chinese foreign trade minister Wu Yi's to MDC's Long Beach factory to sign a contract for the aircraft. The first aircraft is being built (pictured) for China Northern. If the deal is eventually signed, a follow-on batch of 20 TrunkLiners will be built by China's Shanghai Aviation Industrial.
