The US Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) has opened its first heliport security checkpoint at the downtown heliport near New York City’s Wall Street.
The opening coincides with the launch of US Helicopter’s Sikorsky S-76-based shuttle service between the heliport and American Airlines’ Terminal 9 operations at New York Kennedy airport.
The screening services also cover future planned operations by US Helicopter from the heliport to secure areas at New York LaGuardia and New York Newark airports.
The TSA has deployed a team of transportation security officers and certificated X-ray, magnetometer and explosive trace detection security equipment to the heliport to conduct screening procedures.
